Mechanical strength test

The purpose of this test is to assess the resistance of laminated glass to ball penetration.

The test consists of dropping a ball, with a mass of 2260 ± 20 g and a diameter of approximately 82 mm, from a height of 4 m on the windscreen to be tested. This is placed on a suitable support.

Fragmentation test

The purpose of this test is to verify that the fragments and splinters resulting from the breaking of the glass are such that the risk of injury is reduced to a minimum.

The test consists of breaking up the pane to be tested using a hammer weighing approximately 75 g and having a tip radius of curvature of 0.2 ± 0.05 mm.
